Siem Reap
Las Vegas in one of the world's poorest countries. Outside of the real one in Nevada, I've never seen so many $200-$300/night hotels clumped together along a dusty strip. Angkor and the other temples are about 6 kilometers away. Air-conditioned vans shuttle people to and fro, with the less fortunate tourists having to make due with tuk-tuks, at $20 to $25 per day. Having the motorcycle here is ideal. It lessens the burden of the $60/week admission ticket to the site and provides the best method to get around at will.
The temples of Angkor are spread out over a vast area. Some are clustered together, others are up to 50 kilometers away.
