Pattan
My first stop after arriving in Kathmandu was Pattan. Not only does is have more temples per square mile than anywhere else in Nepal, it also housed the Myanmar embassy. A visit there confirmed that riding through Myanmar to either Thailand or Laos was no longer possible. Up to 2 years prior, there was an application process which yielded a 10% success rate, but even that has now been shelved.
Pattan's Durbar square is filled to the brim with temples, stupas and other buildings.
Some of the carving is very intricate, showing lots of detail worn away over time.
It was nice to sit and relax, observing the surroundings.
Most of the houses surrounding the square were either restored or well maintained through time.
My taxi driver on the way home had put some empty space in his car to good use.
